AFRL Partner, Dr. David Casbeer Recognized with 2026 AIAA Sustained Service Award

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) has announced that Dr. David Casbeer of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has been selected as a 2026 Sustained Service Award recipient, recognizing his leadership in advancing AIAA’s focus on autonomy and intelligent systems in aerospace.

 

A longtime AIAA member, Dr. Casbeer leads AFRL’s UAV Cooperative and Intelligent Control Team, which develops enabling technologies for autonomous systems that support future Air Force missions.

 

This national honor highlights Dr. Casbeer’s 20 years of sustained service, technical leadership, and impact on the aerospace community.

 

In addition to Dr. Casbeer, AIAA recognized several other members from NASA, Northrop Grumman, Johns Hopkins APL, Sierra Space, the University of Illinois, and AFRL for their long-term service and contributions across industry, academia, and government.
